Cancun, Mexico

Planning our first anniversary vacation was so exciting, but also very last minute! Cancun had been on our radar of places to visit, and so we set aside five days at the end of September 2017 for a romantic getaway!

Since we are always on the go, we decided to take this trip as a present to us, to enjoy each other’s company and to relax and play in the warm Caribbean sea! That is why we chose to stay in an all-inclusive resort. This was our first time taking the all-inclusive route, and it was certainly the right move since we both love to eat! We stayed at the Hotel Royal Solaris which is right at the south end of Cancun’s Hotel Zone. Overall, our experience at the Royal Solaris was a happy one, with good service, decent all-you-can-eat food, and the warm Caribbean ocean only ten yards from the pool!

Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico

As much as we enjoy relaxing on the beach, what inspires us most about traveling is exploring fresh destinations and learning about the unique cultures along the way. So if you’re planning a trip to Cancun, you must travel into the Yucatan state to the pre-Columbian Maya city of Chichen Itza. There are several options to get there but we suggest going by car or taking a tour. This archaeological site has a very interesting history so make sure you have a knowledgeable guide to share the experience with. Towering at the center of the city is El Castillo, a massive pyramid built sometime between 900-1300 AD as a temple to their god Kukulkan. Chichen Itza can be explored in about four hours, and is a great place to learn about the Mayan culture.
